Bryceworld is my name… Photography is my game.

Landscape

Scotland is pretty awesome.

Sometime back me and a few friends from high school took a road trip to William Wallace country. From Edinburgh to up North there was not one piece of the land I didn’t like. I plan to go back again and explore further north next time. I have my eye on the Isle of sky…

I just hope the weather is as kind. Not one day did it rain, and the temp was as hot as the delicious yorkie we came to love at the pub we frequented.

Here are some snap shots…

This thing was massive!

Costa Rica

Costa Rica,

The warmth was welcomed, both from the Sun and the people. Costa Rica is an amazing place with 40+ National parks which is incredible in itself as CR is not a big country. It’s so good to see that the common sense to protect such wilderness is in place.

CR has just about everything, world famous surfing, great weather and people, a ton of wildlife and nature to explore, beautiful beaches and amazing local cuisine… Don’t go, you wont like it 😉

I didn’t have as much free time as I would have liked, you really need about a month.. yes, there’s just that much stuff there! Plus once out the likes of San Jose and Jaco, where they still accept the US dollar, you will begin to see the real Costa Rica. Tico’s that are happy to see you and not the ones that think you’re an American with a few spare dollars 😉

Here’s some happy snaps, enjoy.

Something Spanish

A few weeks back I took a week to Spain with another BASE jumper, to get a Building to my name and thus completing all the requirements of the Acronym. We ended up with memorable jumps each, as I got my first, and he lost another of his 9 lives in a close call 😉 Great footage 🙂

Benadore is the British capitol for weekend holidays in Spain. It’s full of ‘Chav’s’ which at best would be likened to the Aussie bogan, although they have no similarities apart from their predictable nature, they really are on two different levels but right now thats the best I can come up with.. or maybe a ‘Lad’ would suit better.

Anyway, here are some happy snaps from our wanderings during the days there.

It was good to see the ocean, it really boosted my moral from the drab weather of London. In the words of Johnny Utah ‘I’m drawn to it… or somethin..’

Hanging out the front of a 'Biker cafe'... what the?

They flatten the beach every evening, it’s pretty cool when it’s done.

They have all different arty things on poles, I was diggin it

A personal favourite

Watching life pass by or smelling the roses?

Thats it for now.

Uluru

One of the BEST places in Australia for anyone to visit, Australians included. One thing that still sticks with me, is just how overwhelmingly BIG this rock is!!! Photo’s (the ones that you see) don’t do it the justice.. you really have to see it in person to believe.

My time is Uluru was short, I LOATHE having tight schedules you must adhere to! Although short, my time was blessed there, hugely, I only had one sunrise.. and to everyone’s surprise (I just felt like rhyming for some reason) we were met with a magical light show that produced a rainbow in full view of the biggest rock this earth has seen.. but that will come later.

You must submit your photo’s to the National parks board if you plan to use them commercially.. That means make money. This is why you only see the same typical shots of Uluru.. There are HUNDREDS of excellent compositions you could have, that wouldn’t impede on Aboriginal customs (there are signs telling you where you can and can’t shoot) and I can’t understand why… it would only bring in more money to the parkes, which seams to be their main concern. Is more people visiting Uluru a good or bad thing?

Myself I think it’s good, they have a good set up there that is in force to keep people within the boundries – they even have rangers that drive the loop around Uluru to make sure you don’t stop your car where your not supposed to! They are vicious too 😉 or maybe I just caught one on a bad day.

Anyway, I could rant on all day and I haven’t begun to scratch the surface yet. I need to put an image in 🙂

Bottom line, most people think the Aboriginals are the money hungry/power control freaks there, but from my experience of talking to a couple, and some vetern Uluru visitors (on their 7th trip!!!) It’s the National parkes that have the monopoly on that sacred ground.

Belgium

Here are a few pics I took on a quick trip to Belgium not that long ago… We were on our way to Germany and it’s the coldest weather I’ve been in, in a long long time!!!

I quite like shooting in the snow, it’s something I’ve never done before, although I’ll have to aclimatise as all these shots were taken from a moving car! 😀

A bit more square

An old shot re-edited. Whats digital good for if not spending hours in front of your computer instead of looking for new shots? 😉

Looking through old shots

I love the noblex, it’s a great camera. But after going through some old shots there’s quite a bit of banding that can occur. You MUST use/have fresh batteries!!!

It ruins shots. It’l be a while before I snag one of these again.. North Avoca

Any of you PS guru’s have any idea on salvaging something like this?

The Entrance

This scene was made ‘famous’ by Mike hruby (Pretty sure anyway) Usually there’s ALWAYS someone fishing off that little wharf, esp in the holiday season. But the other day I was lucky enough to get an ok sunset with a bogan free wharf.

Thought I’d share in the christmas spirit one last time 😉 Enjoy kiddies, Have a merry christmas!

P.s The Boat has a bit of a stitch issue, thats why digital is the devil!!!

Lion Island

It’s been a while, nothing much has been happening on the shooting front. I’m just getting geard up for a pretty big trip that should be alot of fun!

Been holding back on this one, but the secrets out, and i can’t be bothered to do a shmick edit on it, it’s too big for my patients! This place is awesome and has heaps of different compositions to choose from. I sat up here the other day listening to a mocking bird for half an hour. Thats one crazy creature…

Long & Skinny

Taken a while back, before I knew about white balance settings.. cough cough.. Still for such a wide stitch it turned out ok.. I have a couple of nice ones of this place on film, but it’s yet to be scanned..

The owner has also shown off his new addition by mooring a big fat 20? Footer. I don’t know much about boats.. but it’s big and looks expen$ive!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway it wrecks the scene now. Glad I got something current while i could.

Avoca shark tower

It’s been a long time since i’ve had a good sunrise for shooting. They don’t seam to mind popping up on work days though.

Anyway I got this the other day, nothing special but turned out to be just ok i think.. a little tame composition wise but i’ll be back 😉

An afternoon with a rainbow

Tis the coming season of late summer storms.. Big punchy rainbows delivered by God, straight to a horizon near you.. All you have to do is get there!

Taken on the Noblex with fuji velvia. Wamberal beach, Central coast NSW

Playing in photoshop

Just  found out a cool little technique to make your shots look like they’ve been taken with a tilt/shift lens.

The result is little miniature like scenes, like you’ve taken photos of a little model. Pretty cool to change it up a bit, keeps me from being bored..

Have no idea what happened to the thumbnail but it’s actually a pano, you’ll see more if you click on it

It’s NEVER over

One stormy summer afternoon I was chasing a shot of a rainbow… After thinking that my time was done I began to pack up and head off the beach back to the car, when that little voice whispers – Hey! Turn around!!

With only a few shots left on the XPAN I changed to the 90mm lens and fired off what was left on the roll. I was lucky enough.. actually lucky is just a ‘worldly’ way of saying Gods favour.. So I was favoured enough on that day to catch a shot like this. Pretty stoked.

Gods favour is all around us, sometimes you just have to listen that that little voice, and turn around to see it.

4 for 1!

My first camera/love would have to be my trusty noblex..

Here’s a few shots from it- if you know me you’ve probly seen these before, they’re a couple of years old, but still goodies if you ask me!

This shack is a just a few hours drive north.. I went up with a mate on a surf trip and stumbled upon it purely by chance.. we only had the afternoon to get to camp so I shot this and kept on truckin’

Early this year I went up to re-shoot it on my fotoman only to found that it had been knocked down!!! (or maybe fell down, your choice)

These next 2 were taken on the same day.. I love those kinda days

Somersby Falls on the central coast lends itself to some great waterfall shots.. Typically at least amongst friends waterfall/rainforest shots don’t rate that highly, at least as highly as I do. Maybe it’s cause it takes me back to that peace I was experiencing whilst shooting it.. This one is one of my fav’s..

Whispers of a waterfall..

Some friends chipped in and got this Blown up to 50inch’s for a wedding present – framed and on the wall it’s a delight to a photographers heart!
